Senior Designer (Burntwood or Southam)

Reporting to:
Design Office Manager
Purpose of job/basic function:
Lead Designer on projects and responsible for any design related issues.
Main Activities/Responsibilities:
- Produce high quality general arrangement drawings in the most efficient way for Approval / Construction / As Built.
- Prepare fabrication drawings for bracketry and pressed metal in conjunction with location drawings.
- Produce Glass and Fixing schedules as and when requested.
- Supervision of design staff on your project.
- Liaising with architects and clients/ main contractors.
- Work to an estimate and project specification.
- Attend co-ordination meetings (internally and externally).
- Work to an agreed project programme.
- Ensure that work is detailed in accordance with agreed sub-contract specification and programme.
- Produce details with commercial consideration given to products used.
- Ensure ASTA is reviewed each week.
- Maintain areas of work in a clean and tidy state.
Other Responsibilities:
- Liaising with the Design Office Manager regarding projects under their section.
- Give support to the Design Office Manager regarding company decisions.
- Identify variations to contract during the design process.
- Issue request for information as and when required.
- Maintain a register of drawings issued, including date issued and current revision of IRS form (in conjunction with the Document Controller).
- To ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
- Research and development of new internal products.
- To comply with all Company policies including Alumet’s Health & Safety and Environmental/Sustainability Policies.
- Acting as an ambassador/exemplar of Alumet Systems and embracing/supporting/promoting the Company culture and values.
- To comply with any objectives/targets/KPIs given.
- To comply with all Design Department procedures.
- Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement.
- Any other duties relevant to the role or as determined by the Manager.
Training & Development:
- Product training courses as necessary, including curtain walling, windows, doors and rainscreens.
- Attending any other internal/external training courses relevant to the role or as required by the Company.

- Design software packages as necessary to carry out duties.
Knowledge/Experience/Attributes:
- Relevant NVQ/HND or Degree.
- Experience in BIM design using Revit software
- Experience in AutoCAD experience.
- Experience within the curtain wall and façade industry.
- Ideally experience of the Schueco curtain wall and window system.
- Experience in managing people and their own large projects
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to research and develop products.
- Time management skills.
