Quality Assurance Site Technician – Birmingham (6 Month Fixed Term Contract)

Reporting to:

Senior Site Manager / Contracts Manager / Head of Construction

Purpose of job/basic function:

This role is responsible for ensuring that Alumet’s site services and activities meet and maintain set standards, enabling a successful delivery of the project in terms of quality control.  Projecting a quality culture to all site personnel.

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out QA for the site.
  • Ensure procedures are properly understood, carried out and audited.
  • Champion a ‘Right First Time’ culture throughout the Company.
  • Carry out regular inspections and keep detailed records as evidence that work is of the highest possible quality utilising Fieldview and Dome.
  • Be pro-active in the identification and resolution of problems, informing Site Management of any non-conformities observed.
  • Monitor the progress of corrective actions and confirm the action taken to close the NCRs to the management team.
  • Support Site Management if necessary with the preparation of site procedures, activity plans and assurance records to ensure that staff have comprehensive and complete records for work carried out.
  • Contribute to project reporting in terms of QA/QC activities.
  • Ensure that required certificates are available and valid.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with the site team and other relevant personnel.
  • Keep the Site Management informed of all site related activities.
  • Support the Site Management as necessary with other site activities.
  • Manage own workload.

Other responsibilities:

  • Acting as an ambassador/exemplar of Alumet Systems and embracing/supporting/promoting the Company culture and values.
  • Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement.
  • To comply with any objectives/targets/KPIs given.
  • To comply and ensure those under your control comply with all Company policies including Alumet’s Health & Safety and Environmental/Sustainability Policies
  • Any other duties relevant to the role or as determined by the Manager.

Training & Development:

  • Attending any internal/external training courses relevant to the role or as required by the Company.
  • Ongoing personal development.

Knowledge/Experience/Attributes:

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of Quality processes in relation to site activities.
  • Sufficient experience in a similar role, including good knowledge of rainscreen cladding and curtain wall installation.
  • Relevant NVQ (or equivalent) in Construction.
  • Current CSCS card, SMSTS or SSSTS card.
  • Proven record of CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
  • Familiar with RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action).
  • Knowledge and previous usage of QA software, eg Fieldview.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Highly presentable with the ability to gain trust and respect.
  • High degree of initiative.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good IT skills – proficient in the application and use of information technology.
  • Be methodical, logical and detail oriented.
  • Be professional, customer friendly, amenable and a team player.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good eye for detail and ability to critique standards to ensure high quality finish.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
