This project involved regenerating two tower blocks in Sandwell with external cladding, modified balconies & replacement windows. The majority of occupants were retired individuals and benefited from the complete make over of the exterior as well as refurbished rooms and communal lounge area plus the addition of a new roof extension.
Mrs Whitehouse, a tenant at Neale House, is especially pleased with the improvements. She said:
I'm very happy with all the workmen and the Customer Liaison Officers, they were all polite and helpful and great to have around. I am grateful for all the work that has taken place. The new interior balcony has made the room more homely and looks wonderful.

This project was to completely refurbish Ashburton Court, one of Hampshire County Council's main office buildings in Winchester, to provide flexible and efficient modern offices and functional space for building and service users. A number of options were considered, including major repair, refurbishment or total replacement. However, the refurbishment option offered the most cost effective approach and gave the County Council an opportunity to make efficiencies in the use of its offices. It was also possible through this medium to make major long-term energy savings through sensitive re-modelling and design. The new design incorporated features such as efficient insulation, double glazing, reduced energy consumption, natural ventilation and solar shading. The refurbishment also allowed for improved accessibility for staff, service users and members of the public.

This project involved the complete refurbishment of two high-rise blocks in Hallam Street, West Bromwich, including new windows and cladding.
Tony Powell, tenant of over 14 years says:
The improvements have made a big difference. The outside of the whole block has been transformed. Whereas before it looked very plain with steel-framed windows, now the outside is immaculate and I've heard lots of comments from people on how lovely it looks. With the cladding that's been put on to the exterior of the building the whole place is also a lot warmer.
John Clayton, Investment Director at Sandwell Homes adds:
We made a big commitment to invest in improvements to the housing stock and I'm delighted with the standard of work that has been achieved. The refurbishment is second to none, and it is really pleasing to know that the tenants and residents also feel the same.

Scott House and Hamstead House were refurbished as part of Sandwell's Decent Homes Programme. The programme involved the refurbishment of the entire building including new kitchens, bathrooms, wiring and heating. Alumet carried out the external work on the building, providing new cladding, doors, balconies and windows.
As well as improving the visuals of the building, the new features also helped the building to achieve new levels of insulation and weather resistance.
Tennants provided input on the colour and appearance of the new systems through consultation meetings.
The aim of the project was to make the buildings better places to live and more attractive landmarks on the skyline of Sandwell.

Astbury Court and Lawrence Court in Oldbury were refurbished under the Decent Homes programme. Improvements included new windows, re-cladding to external walls, redecorated communal areas, a new front entrance, repairs to brickwork and landscaping to surrounding areas. Sandwell Homes were responsible for managing the homes on behalf of Sandwell Council.
Mrs Day is a happy tenant at Astbury Court, she said:
I am really satisfied with the work that has been carried out under the Decent Homes programme. Astbury Court has been completely transformed and now looks really nice.
Although we're happy that the scaffolding has come down I must admit we were sad to see the workmen go, who were all really professional, friendly people.
