Health & Safety

Specialist staff

Alumet have two full time health and safety staff (a H&S Manager and a H&S Officer) who ensure our operations remain safe throughout our factories, offices and sites.

H&S monitoring on site

Alumet uses the following procedures to ensure standards on site are upheld at all times:

  • On site supervision by our Project Managers
  • Regular visits from our health and safety team
  • Ad-hoc visits from our Directors
  • Regular audits
  • Accident reporting procedures
  • Regular tool-box talks

H&S courses

We fully sponsor staff to complete a range of safety courses including fire prevention, manual handling, scaffold erection, fork lift operation, glass handling and working at height.

Safety equipment

We invest heavily in reducing the risk to health by providing both personal protective equipment (PPE) and plant equipment including GEKO glass handling machines, Glasmax glass hoists, Homer louvre handling machines and rear view cameras for fork lifts.

Occupational health monitoring

We ensure our staff remain healthy in the work place and carry out regular health screening tests including audiometry, dermatitis and lung function testing.

On-site league tables

On-site league tables highlight how well we are performing compared to other contractors working on the same site. We are proud to consistently appear in the top five and regularly come out on top across many of our sites.

Site awards

We are regularly issued Health & Safety Awards by our Main Contractors in recognition of our standards on site. A recent example is our H&S Site Winner Award from Interserve for our standards at our current Sandwell College project.

Audits and accreditations

Our standards are regularly audited and have been benchmarked with the following health & safety accreditations:

  • Achilles Building Confidence
  • Achilles Link Up
  • Safe Contractor
  • Contractor Plus
  • CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Scheme)
