Avon Solar Control - Environmental Benefits

Reduced demand for air conditioning - The solar shading reduces a building's solar gain and as a result reduces the need for energy intensive air conditioning.
Sustainable production - Products are made from aluminium which is sourced from a number of leading manufacturers who have excellent environmental credentials, including using up to 50% recycled product at all times.
Long lasting - Product are highly durable, lasting a long time with little maintenance.
Recyclable - Aluminium can easily be recycled at the end of the product's life. One of the benefits of aluminium is that it can be reused for the same purposes over and over again without losing any of its unique properties. Furthermore, recycling requires only 5% of the original energy input (stats sourced from Building magazine).
No paint used - our aluminium is powder coated instead of liquid painted. There are several advantages of this, including:
- No volatile organic compounds (VOC's) produced.
- No solvents, meaning reduced fire risk, reduced risk in application and disposal of waste.
- Less waste.
- Powder can easily be recycled as extraction systems gather most excess powder.
- Processing times for powder are generally shorter than for liquid coatings.
- Reduced health risks for operators - e.g. fewer hazardous materials and powder is easily washed off.
- Raw material research has produced powders that can be cured at lower temperatures meaning lower energy consumption.
- Thermosetting powder coatings often have higher chemical / physical resistance - reducing cost and fuel consumption involved in transportation and storage.
