Welcome to Avon Solar Control
The primary functions of external Solar Shading are to reduce the thermal heat gain in a building as well as controlling the levels of direct light. This has the positive effect of reducing the buildings energy costs and improving the working environment inside. Avon Solar Control offers a full range of systems to achieve this important function.
The standard range of systems provides a proven and effective solution for the majority of solar shading needs. However, the range is being constantly updated to provide the latest innovations and allows the ability to meet bespoke requirements.
In addition to solar shading, Avon Solar Control also offers various architectural louvres to provide active, screening or acoustic panels that can be installed in a range of prepared openings, from glazed to blockwork.
Avon Solar Control systems can be fully integrated into the building facades, which allows flexibility for the architectural design of the building. With early consultation the right design of solar shading can also have the potential benefit of reducing the specification and the cost for the glass.
The systems are designed with aluminium and stainless steel components to allow for minimum maintenance. Aluminium components can be anodised or polyester powder coated to blend in with the building design or provide a coloured feature.
In 2008 Alumet was honoured with the prestigious G08 Award for Glass Project of the Year. The award recognized the company's exemplary achievements on Carnival UK's new headquarters in Southampton. Alumet designed, fabricated and installed the complete building envelope for the building which sits proudly on West Quay habour, overlooking ships such as the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth II. The building incorporates a bespoke brise soleil design using Alumet's Avon Solar Control C-Blade. This system was designed specifically for this project in order to complement the glass and to prevent solar glare during the summer months.
